If you've got a craving for some home cooking with a little soul a new restaurant in downtown Guthrie might be your cup of tea.
Stacy's Place, owned by Guthrie resident Stacy Smith, located at 113 W. Harrison Ave. in the Tontz and Hirschi Building. opened its doors Monday. The Victorian structure is part of the Guthrie Historic District. Above arched window openings are blocks with the year 1891. Inside, the original ceiling, murals and other wood features contribute to the one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
Smith is from Seattle, Wash., where she managed a coffee shop.
In the past, Smith owned a sandwich shop in Guthrie called Uptown Cafe.
"I love the food industry," Smith said. "I love the customers. Some people are just made to do this, and I can't imagine myself doing anything else."
Everything is homemade. That includes mashed potatoes and gravy and desserts. Greens are cut and boiled. The shepherd's pie, pot pies and soups are homemade.

"I want it to be very down home, feel like they're going to their grandma or mom's house for Sunday dinner," she said. "That's what I want it to feel like every time they come in here."
In addition to the restaurant, the building space is home to Smith's cake and pie business. She caters events including Thanksgiving dinner.
